RAM Detect takes a while on boot

Hi,

For some reason my PC takes a while to run through the memory detection.

I recently got a new motherboard, but it was taking just as long on the old motherboard so it's not that.

I have 2x XMS3200 Pro DDR 512MB which takes ages to go through post for some reason and makes startup pretty slow because of the slow post.

Any idea what could be causing this and what I could do to sort it please?

Do you mean like when you want to see how much space left on a drive or in the bios screen the memory check? :confused:

The memory check in the bios post when you turn the pc on.

Make sure you have enabled the "quick post" option in the BIOS. That should skip the memory check.

Yup, quick post is enabled, yet it still runs through the ram thingy

With some mobos the memory check can't be disabled? That has been the case with my old mobo anyway.

I'll double check but I don't remember seeing any option to do with turning the memory check off
