Hello RAM guru's, quick question.

Motherboard is triple channel maximum 24GB.
User currently has 6GB but has option of having dual/quad 32GB (4x8gb).

He'd only be able to use 24gb, so 3 sticks.
Would this A, be able to run in triple channel? B. If not in triple channel, would it perform better than the 6GB he already has, running in triple.

(The 32GB ram will be free _ I think)

So the user is going to get 4 * 8GB ?

Then just use 3 x 8GB and check the manual to ensure the motherboard supports it.

If the ram is the same speed, same latency etc, then the only thing that will really change is if the user goes over 6GB in usage... then the 24GB will be useful and show an improvement.

Packages like "triple" and "quad" are simply matched pairs/triples/quads. Running one less stick isn't going to matter. Often buying the special packages are actually a waste of money when you could just more easily and cheaply buy (for example) two pairs of the same memory.
