I'm getting a 201 error with my ram. I've got 2x2GB of one type and 2x2GB of the other, described below. It a HP 6200 Pro (i3 2100). The machine is having random restarts, I can't find a pattern to it. I've checked the ram using memtest 86+, both sets of 2x2GB test. But not 8GB. I considered it might be the PSU but then I got this memory error. Any suggestions.

2GB 240p PC3-10600 CL9 16c 128x8 DDR3-1333 2Rx8 1.5V UDIMM RFB, Hynix, CJI, HMT125U6TFR8C-H9

Maybe it the motherboard. Has one of those UEFI bios driving me nuts.

What's a 201 error?

Mixing modules is always risky. Try each stick on its own and then in matched pairs.

Thanks. 201 seems to be a ram faulty. But then they test fine in matched pairs. I tried them in another machine a HP 6000PRO (E8500) and they work fine with no errors as 8GB.

I'm thinking it might be that other machine the 6200 either doesn't like this ram, or has some hardware glitch about 8GB.

I'll have to test the 6200 with just 4GB and see does it still do the random restarts.

I was thinking PSU because its a SFF and I have a graphics card in it. But it doesn't always do it when I play games. Its even when just browsing etc.

I can't find any pattern to it. I'm going to have stick the ram in the other machine and see if I get any reboots with that.

Without the gfx card (GT430) and only 4GB the machine seems stable enough.

After some research I discovered that

HP 6000PRO (E8500) 320w PSU
HP 6200 Pro (i3 2100) 230w PSU

They look the same chassis. I assume they dropped 90w off the PSU to make it greener, but its not going to work with any gfx cards.
