Noob here...

I bought 2 sticks of Corsair DDR2 XMS2 6400C4 TWINX to add to the 2gig i already have (same memory). Booted ok but when running a game it bsod, fired it up again and it did the same. I took the new memory out, ran the game and it was fine. Took out my ram and put in the new ram, booted up and ran the game and it bsod.

Phoned tech help for RMA (not bought at OcUK) he told me that i need to set my memory timings manually as this is a prob with ASUS boards (mine is asus p5n32-e) and that the memory is ok and that i will be charged a fee for testing the memory if returned.

Is he right in saying that i need to set the timing manually or is the ram borked, seeing that the ram i have works perfectly well... thx

Well yeah I'd set the timings to 4-4-4-12 and the memory voltage to 2.1v and see if it still causes problems with just the new sticks in.

If it does, then download and burn Memtest86+ to a CD and boot from it. It will pick up any errors, and if it does, then your memory is faulty.

I did as you suggested, a pic to make sure:

Still getting bsod
Downloaded and ran Memtest and by test #6 there was over 79000 errors.
So back to the shop it goes...Thx very much for your help Cob
