What RAM should i get for a X2 4800+?

Currently got 2gig XMS PC3500 and can do 232fsb stable on 1T air cooling. Temps never go over 50oC.

Would getting some sticks of PC4000 be worth it?

PC4000 won't give you much gains on AMD64, you can run a divider with PC3200 and get great performance.

GSkill ZX and OCZ PC3200 2-3-2-6 are both fantastic.

Try changing the mem timmings in the bios to CAS 2.5. should get 250fsb out of them but the cpu may top out before then with out good coolling.

Try cpu multiplier x11 with 250fsb should give you 2750Mhz if stable work upto fsb 253 =2783.00 MHz if that works then you will know that the ram was not the problem at more than muti x12 at 232 fsb.

Even tho your not going above 50oC the faster you push the cpu the colder the cpu needs to be in most cases, so if it was stable at 2.4GHz at 50oC it would not be stable 3.0GHz at 50oC.
