Morning,

As CPU prices going in right direction, I'm starting to shop around for upgrade.

Is this RAM best you can get for buck? Not really keen on 48GB, looking at 64.

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £1,097.96 (includes delivery: £0.00)

Rams ok if you need 64gb but there are plenty of cheaper alternative CPU coolers that perform well like the thermalright peerless assassin or the phantom spirit.

Motherboard have you considered b850 the Tomahawk offers a lot for the price.

Is usb 4 needed ?

Thank you but for my own sanity id like to spend extra cash for x870s. E or without makes no difference to me, cost is pretty much same.
I've always been Team Noctua (using their fans since I remember) so don't mind paying extra for that. The only alternative I'd consider is Id720 but it's not in UK and I was told by their CS it will be in March but it's still not here so they're loosing my custom.

I don't mind paying extra for RAM as well but majority is with crap rgb and i don't think going lower than c30 is cost efficient now, hence my question here.

Is fine at that speed. X3Ds aren't bothered about RAM unless you're a benchmark jockey or a competitive gamer.

What do you mean by "sanity"?

Does anything even use more than 32gb of ram yet? Sorry if I'm being naive here
its easy to use that much with certain games + mods (cities skylines is a big one), AI workloads and lots of rendering/3d work can benefit from it, MathCAD iirc, scientific modelling etc. + a lot of things I know nothing about. Sometimes its also just about being able to leave those workloads running while also having 100 tabs open in chrome ;)
Its also easier to buy 64 now, rather than 32 now and 64 in a year or two, since ram is cheap right now.

Thanks. Good to know!:)

32gigs is more important when it comes to dual rank (versus single rank for lower capacity DIMMS) and as Ch3mic4l said, some apps do use more than 16gigs.

A great capacity is 48gig (2 by 24gigs) which has some benefits

RAM is not worrying about too much tho and as long as it’s fast enough, it’s fine.
