my friend as had him pc for 7 years and now wants a new one that look good with lots of leds.... but as to last the test of time. we have been lookong at the Crucial Ballistix Tactical Tracer. is the ram any good or it is just crap ram with leds strapped on.

he is building an 1155 i5 - for gaming and and everything that a family would use it for

ifthe Crucial is not all that good what should he get for around the same price
8gb for about £60 as he want 2x4gb kits

If you give us a budget for the build we can spec suggestions for a complete rig.

The crucial RAM is good, however the LEDs are a bit of a gimmick and you will only see them providing you have a windowed case.

That could be waaaay over budget but it's just to show you what can be done. I've compromised on the RAM in that it only has the one LED for the dragons eye ;) The mobo does SLI/Xfire it's colour matched to the RAM nicely too. The closed loop cooler, allows you to see more of the mobo and RAM through the case window, it's lit with a red LED too as are the case fans.

We'd love to see what you guys are thinking of building :)

8gb kit for half the price: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-020-TG

Unless he really wants those LEDs...

Mmm and a lot less performance...

Yes they are good RAM sticks, but you could get the same for half the price (but no LED's).

Yer he wants LEDs because they look cool
