I remember hearing a while back about some later amd chips needing ddr 400mhz to work otherwise they didnt recognise the ram. I was wondering if A. I heard right (it was a while back) and B. if this is the case for amd socket 754 64bit ones.

Are you intending on using PC2700 or something slower on a 754 system?
Have done this at work and it seemed to work fine, but I'd be more inclined to try and use PC3200
