I've not kept upto date with with how Intel timings work. Long gone are the days when I could spout facts and figure about old setups...

So, I'm looking for some RAM for an i5 build. Need 8GB and would like to overclock somewhat. Not decided on the Mobo yet but would like to narrow things down...

What kit should I buy?

Plus if someone can link me to an upto date explanation of how the i5's work (timings/lingo etc) I'd appreciate it :)

Im in the same boat myself - any thoughts fellas on this stuff:

And on the relative merits of the three types mentioned so far in this thread? This is for an i5/7 1156 with moderate OC :)

Yeah, what about them? I'm planning to buy memory for i5, always used Corsair, so wanted to go same path.
What about these? I love Dominators...

They work at 1.65v, does it mean I can use them with i5 or do I have to go for the previous ones?

Those modules are exactly what you need for Core i5 and dual channel Core i7 CPUs.

Thanks. They look beautiful...
Now I need to ask Corsair for sponsorship of my new started project, cause these sticks are pretty expensive nowadays...
I wonder why RAm prices jumped up that much in last few weeks?

quick question would THIS ram work in THIS motherboard or would THIS ram be better suited?

Thanks:)

Yes will be fine :)

Why not go for the G-Skill ?? Same timings and speed but 30 quid cheaper!

I can personally vouch for this memory as I have it sitting in my pc at the moment, it looks good and clocks really well.

you might also want to look at the Geil which is even faster and cheaper!! If these were out when I purchased my core i5 kit I would have definately gone for these without a doubt.

I've been researching the same the last few days, and decided on the G-Skill Ripjaws F3-12800CL7D-4GBRH, as they have faster timing (7-7-7-24) for a few quid more.

Before I part with my cash - Is there a reason they haven't been suggested here already by people more in the know than me? :)
