ram for asus

ASUS likes GSKILL in general mate. They love Hynix, Samsung and PSC IC's. What speed 16gb you looking at and I can recommend a specific kit.

I want the fastest I can get, for the motherboard

The lower the price the better, but I want the fastest I can get

Well you are actually limited by the IMC on the CPU often not the board its self.

I would go GSKILL Trident X 2400mhz then or RipjawZ 2133mhz both work well with ASUS and I am sure your IMC will handle 2400 no problem at XMP.

Thank you 8 Pack for your reply.

My budget is about £200 for 16gb in 2 x 8gb size, I was thinking of one of these -

or this would have been great if it was in 2 x 8gb as opposed to 4 x 4gb

Would you still pick the Trident X?

Thanks for your suggestion, unfortunately I need to get 2 x 8gb sticks so it will fit with my heatsink.

Thw 1600mhz Clan rocks up again!! He wants the fastest he can get!!! Stick with the Trident X ......

Well after a lot of reading and information off you guys, i think i have made my choice.

the gskill ram seems to be a winner

I'm curious about this 8 Pack; is it true of differenrt mobo manufacturers in general, that they work better with specific brands of RAM? And in what way? Stability in overclocking? Any other brands that work better together?

Just curious, as I always tend to gravitate towards Asus mobos meself :) Apologies to the OP for the hijacking!

im using gskill ares 2x4gb 2133mhz on an asus board and im happy

using Geil evo 2x4gb 2133mhz on my other asus mobo and they are good also

My heatsink covers the first of the four RAM slots on my motherboard all i did to get it to fit was remove the heat spreader on the RAM.

I just heated it up with my wifes hair dryer so the glue was soft and worked it off with the handle of a plastic Spork lol

Now i have RAM in all four slots, 3 of them still have the heat spreaders on and the one that doesnt, well you cant see it anyway its under the heatsink.

EDIT: Its corsair vengeance RAM btw

I have some of the parts for my build but I'm worried that it may cover my team slots , so I may have to make some adjustments if it does not.

I have been told by pretty much everyone, that g.skill is the best to go for. So I'm going for the 2x 4gb ram.

Just need to hope it fits

Do you have a suitable OS for 16GB?

What is it you do that needs that much RAM?

I will be running Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium w/SP1 64 Bit. I don't really have any legitimate reason for 16GB, I don't mind spending (wasting) the money now, I don't upgrade that often.

You can get 8GB of 2133MHz RAM for under £40 on here at the moment. GeIL EVO Leggera.
