Hi,
I'm looking for some good RAM.
I mainly game and on BF2 i get a bit of RAM lag when i first load the map (on full graphics setting), i don't get any FPS lag with the 7800GT. At the moment i have the following RAM ;
Corsair 1GB DDR Value Select PC3200 CAS2.5 Kit (2x512MB) (VS1GBKIT400) (MY-041-CS)
Processor = AMD x2 3800+ @ 2.5ghz

Can anyone recommend some good RAM that will stop this lag at the start of the game? I'm looking for 2GB.
Also which is better for gaming, low latency or speed?
Thanks :)

get 4gigs, its really good stuff. also not much difference between low latency and high speed ram. 200mhz 2-2-2-6 works out to be around the same as 300 3-3-3-11. just go for the cheaper options out there.

the corsair 3500LL is a good kit you get best of both worlds.

Any two 2gb kit will help your gamming in bf2 check out the gskill 2gb kits they are reasonably priced and good for overclocking.

G.Skill 2GB DDR HZ PC4000 (2x1GB) CAS3 Dual Channel Kit
Price: £121.95 (£143.29 Including VAT at 17.5%)

G.Skill 2GB DDR ZX PC3200 (2x1GB) CAS2 Dual Channel Kit (F1-3200PHU2-2GBZX) (MY-007-GS)
Price: £119.95 (£140.94 Including VAT at 17.5%)

G.Skill 2GB DDR ZX PC3200 (2x1GB) CAS2 Dual Channel Kit (F1-3200PHU2-2GBZX) (MY-007-GS)
Price: £119.95 (£140.94 Including VAT at 17.5%)

That kit will run at tighter timmings which the AMD's processors like, they will perform very similar in gamming. The HZ 2GB kit is probably better for overclocking.

Thanks :)
One more thing Murzo, what do you think of : Corsair 2GB DDR XMS3500LL TwinX (2x1GB) CAS2 (MY-107-CS) :D
Just want to make sure i get the best RAM when spending around £150 :p
Thanks :)

if crucial had sorted out their ballistix ram failure problems then i would have recommended them for you to get. but the failure rate on ballistix is too high to bother with.

The Corsair 2GB DDR XMS3500LL is very good ram, 2/3/2/6 @ 217mhz = 204mhz o/c on my FX53 without any messing about! ;)

I woudnt be surprised if I could get it to 2.8ghz which I'll have a dabble with when I've got some time.

I bet with the Ocz/G.skill you would be lucky to get to 208mhz at 2/3/2/5 without having errors in memtest.

I'm sticking with Corsair brand from now on, I did previously have some of the G.Skill but it woudnt go past 200mhz infact it was unstable at normal settings & didnt like any volts except auto volts - had reboots in games but didnt show any errors in memtest after 12 hours this occured on 2 mobo set-ups - will be RMA'ing the G.Skill this week & sell the replacements I guess.

I would go for this - Corsair 2GB DDR XMS3500LL TwinX (2x1GB) CAS2 (MY-107-CS) no difference between that & the pro except the higher price/flashing led's/larger heatspreaders.

Agree with above - top ram great price and nice tight timings!
