looking for some ram and i came across the geil black dragon 800mhz kits, 2gig and 4gig. they seem to be rated to run those speeds at faily low voltages which is what im looking for.

question is, does anyone know of any issues with the gigabyte board i have, p35-ds3, and geil memory?

I have the same board and 2x1GB of the 6400 black dragon ram. Worked at it's rated speed straight out of the box. Not oc'ed it yet though as 3.2 is fast enough for my e6750.

Set to manual voltage control and chose "normal" in the MIT. According to the bios and Everest, running at 1.87V.

Looks great in my case btw. The red lights reflect off the red PCB on my hd3850 giving it a really nice shine.

A lot of those boards overvolt the ram by roughly 0.1v, so make sure the ram is voltage lenient.

Yeah, my P35 does this - in fact its about 0.14v over at the setting I use, if speedfan can be trusted. My memory should handle 2.2v but its already getting 2.14 when set to 2.0 in the bios. If I go up to the next notch the memory starts to get unstable. Does anyone know where the vdimm measuring point is on this board (if there is one) as I'd like to double check it with a voltmeter?

I checked mine with a voltmeter and at stock volts (1.8) it showed as 1.97

Thanks, but where did you take the measurement from? I'd like to check mine but don't want to go randomly jamming the probe from the voltmeter into my mobo.

everest shows my current 512mb single stick of 266mhz(533) ram is getting 1.82v, ram voltage is set to auto in bios. will probably get the 2 gig kit of geil since its only 25 quid at a local pc shop.
