ram for i7 rig

Looking at ram for an i7 rig,know I **** a 6gb 3channel kit but not decided what speed yet.had originally decided on a 1600mhz dominator kit but wondering if I would gain any benefit for the step up to the 1800mhz kit.
CPU will either be an 820 or an 865 but am leaning towards the 865 ATM for the unlocked multi.system will be watercooled and used mainly for gaming.
Ideas appreciated

From the reviews I've read on the i7 system it would appear that there is no big performance difference between 1066, 1333, 1600. It should be better to get memory with tighter timings like 7-7-7-20.
