RAM for P5B-Del

I have an E6600 and a P5B-Del. I find it hard to pick some RAM due to all that incompatibility issues I have been reading. I am looking for 2 GBs at 5400 or 6400. As it seems OCZ is out of the question, so I am between the above:

- G.Skill PC2-6400 HZ Series (although this is my last choice due to pricing)
- G.Skill PC2-6400 NR Series (5-5-5-15)
- Geil PC2-5400 (5-5-5-15) (The cheapest)

I am actually not intending to oc for the time being (as this is built mainly for work and I am already behind schedule :D) and if I do so it will be just for having a go. The rest of the system:

- E6600, P5B-Del, Ge-Cube 9600XT, 2x250 GB WD SII 16mb cache, Tt Shark, 580W Hiper Type-R, (probably Zalman 9500 or Alphacool kit wc)

Has anyone ever tried those memories on a P5B-Del? Do u think the Geil will do its job (as the cheap alternative)?

Tx for any answers! :)

Geil pc6400 works fine, but is detected as pc5300 ( as per Geil,s leaflet ) then you just set the dram speed to 800 in bios all will be OK providing that you have the current bios file installed , else you will not be able to set the correct speed

Did I just hear you say 9600XT?? You mean on AGP?? As far as I'm aware 9600XT doesn't do PCI-E nor PCI platform.

My mistake!!! 1600XT :P

From today there is also compatibility with OCZ 6400 as it seems, based on the notes of the new bios release by ASUS. Has any of you noticed those red G.Skill HZ (special edition or sth)? Is it any different from the black ones?

I have run the GSKILL 2GBLA 5400 ram at 400 1:1 on this board at 4-4-4-12 timings easily.....no problems at all.

Hi Bito, very interesting! I also have this kit from GSKILL and havent managed to get it prime blend or memtest stable at any voltage between 1.8 to 2.0v (stock ratings) at much over DDR700.

Can you let me know your exact bios setting to achieve this ?

Could you please post instructions on how to go about setting up the Geil 6400 (CL4) memory in the bios on the P5B-Deluxe? - At the moment I'd just like to get it running at it's rated speed but I'm confused about how to achieve this in the bios.

Cheers
