I been batting about for a bit now needing more ram for the games i play.. i decided to just shut up and but it..

whats the best ram speed for a R5 5600, with old Ryzen you was basically capped at 3600mhz but with 5XXX chips i was told you can go a lot higher.
what speed should i be looking at

You can go higher but you also need to overclock your infinity fabric to avoid a latency penalty for desynchronization which depends on your cpu.

The io die in 5000 series was the same as the 3000 series, might be a touch more refined, your probably best overclocking your current ram to find your fabric limit before buying new ram to avoid disappointment.

I ended up buying 32gb @3600mhz
It is running slightly tighter times than xmp and at 3800mhz with 1:1 on the fabric.

I did bother pushing any higher as it’s 32gb

3600mhz is fine. The 5xxx chips can sometimes hit 4000mhz with the IF in 1:1 but the gains aren't really worth the price over 3600mhz C16 or even C18.

thats what i thought. i got 32gb(2x16) fury beast @ CL18-22-22- 42 for £82 new
all i did was set speed to 3800mhz, drop timing CL17-20-20-36 and run testmem for an hour on a few different setting.

i didnt even try to go lower, system works flawlessly am good

There's some good gains to have by tightening the secondary and tertiarys up. I gained a decent chuck on the cpu score in timespy

Cod benchmark (pants I know but it's pretty much all I play) showed an average 12 FPS rises so it is little but it's free performance

Is there a bench built into cod? Of do you run a set rough?

I do play cod and battlefield most but I already hit my 144hz cap as I’m using an hdmi cable I really need to stop been tight and buy a display port cable to get up to 165hz

12fps is a good, I may knock a digit off each timing and see how I get on.

Assuming you've got the full game it's somewhere within the multiplayer menu, usually have to scroll to the right as it's never on the main screen

Yer I have it but don’t have the complain installed I’ll have a look

Edit
Ok I see now it’s only in the new one. I was thinking in 10 years of cod I’ve never seen it

With Ryder it’s all about timings. I’m. It at home right now and can’t recall the timing off the top of my head but there is one that Ruben doesn’t like right.

What is your current ram and what timings / speed
