ram for sandy bridge build?

does upping the multi with a sb rig up the ram speed like when you up a bclk?

im helping my friend choose a new system andjust wondered it i could get away 1333mhz ram instead of anything faster?

Upping the multiplier doesn't affect the RAM speed. It stays at 1333MHz, 1600MHz etc. regardless of the multiplier.

1333MHz RAM is hardly any different in price to 1600MHz so I would recommend you get 1600MHz.

And 1600MHz is the sweet spot for Sandy Bridge: The Best Memory For Sandy Bridge.

The low profile RAM won't interfere with big CPU coolers.

I've got 4gb of Corsair XMS3 and I can vouch for it, I've adjusted the timings (7-8-7-20) and it still runs sweet at 1.5v
