RAM for Shuttle SN78SH7

Hi I would like to put in 8 Gig DDR RAM into this machine as this only had two DIMM slots I would buy 2 x 4 Gig DDR 800 or similar. But the spec says it can only be upgraded to 4 Gig RAM total.

Has anyone out there installed 8 gig into one of these machines, or see a reason why the machine could not take 8 Gig as I plan. The OS is Window 7 64 Bit ultimate.

Any thoughts appreciated.

It is possible that when the paper documentation was printed there simply weren't 8GB kits available so they could never test it; check the online specs, they may be more up to date - but if they say 4GB, then that most likely is all the motherboard is prepared to deal with and there's no point in trying to beat it.

Thanks eddiew. Perhaps a BIOS upgrade would allow me to go further than 4 gig? It does state that is the limit on the Shuttle site though.

Course I could just buy 2 x 4 gig and give it a go. Just wondering if anyone else had done so.
