Hey guys, quick question...

I have a 5 year old Aldi Medion PC with a recently fried RAM chip for some reason, now that is DDr2 PC2-5300 or 6400 and it's about £30 to put 2GB of RAM into it to replace.

However my high spec system (see my sig) has 4GB PC2-6400 RAM and it seems to work out cheaper to replace the RAM for that as DDR3 than buy some older DDR2...

My question is I have a gigabyte GA-MA790FX-DQ6 motherboard and an AMD Phenom2 965 [email protected] I use DDR3 and if so what speed?

Cos DDR3 is cheaper than DDR2 so if i can get DDR3 in my newer system (maybe 4GB+) then I can use my current OCZ DDR2 in my Aldi system as the general family computer.

Any advice?
Thanks

Depends what you use your machine for. Most users including gamers will be fine with 4GB. I recently went up to 8GB but I use premiere pro for HD video editing and some extensive photoshop work but the 8GB appears to have not made a difference in games from the 4GB
