Hey guys,

Ive got 8gig of G.Skill TridentX ram at 2400mhz, on my i7 2600k and asus maximus v gene motherboard, however i have to run it at 2133 mhz for my pc to boot, is there a way i can get the full 2400 out of it??? By changing timings etc or what??

If so, could some1 tell me how to or link me a tutorial pls :D

Thanks guys.

Hi mate,

There is almost no chance at all of a 2600K having a good enough IMC to run any RAM at all at 2400mhz. That RAM is designed specifically for Ivy Bridge CPU which can run at much higher frequency's without any problem. I have Trident X and have run em upto 3165mhz on that board with Ivy. Its not teh board or the RAM its a weak IMC.

You could always Tune the dimms to perform better at 2133mhz though. By adjusting the timings you can get a real performance improvement.

Hey thanks for the reply, i might upgrade to an ivy in the near future, however, what timings do i have to adjust etc? To get the best performance and stuff, im completely new to ram timings...
