I always get confused with ram and what is compatible with which types of mobo.

I have an Asus P7P55D-E LGA1156 mobo (http://uk.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1156/P7P55DE/) and I am looking to upgrade from 4gb to 8gb of ram.

I know I need dual channel ddr3 but then I get lost. When looking at overclockers do i need 10666, 12800 or 14400?

I know the new Sammy stuff gets good reviews but I assume thats not compatible with my mobo?

Cheers guys

you can use any ddr3 10666 or 12800 deffinatly maybe even the 1440+ not sure on that though but you wouldn't notice the difference with that anyway

Thanks I'll take a look at those RJC.

If i was upgrading for the longer term and wanted to get 1440+ ram for future upgrades, would that still be usable with what I have? or not worth bothering with?

You would be able to run higher speed ram, but worse case you run the ram at reduced speed.

My personal view is stick with 1600mhz ram.
