Ram in system properties

I know that as I'm using a 32bit OS I won't be able to use all 4gb. Up until today it has read around 3 - 3.2 of ram available. Just booted up and its run really slow and after checking system properties and it displays 2.75gb :confused:

Before this happened I was trying to overclock my cpu some more so after this unexpected ram change and system slow down I thought I had better drop the cpu back down to 3.0 ghz for now / set voltages to auto etc and performance seems fine which is a relief. Does anyone have any idea what may have happened?

Adding new sound card took away a little of the available ram. Learn something new every day

Did you disable the on-board sound after installing the sound card? If you do that, I'd imagine the number of address spaces used would be equal, so the amount of available RAM shouldn't change.

You should go 64bit with that much ram..

Yes, you're right - I will be grabbing win7 soon as. Time for 64 bit.
