RAM Incompatibility with MOBO?

Hi,

My friend is having an issue with the installation of some new RAM and I've marked it down as incompatible with the board, however wanted to quickly check.

Current RAM: Corsair 4GB Dominator 1600MHz CL9 DDR3
Upgraded RAM: Corsair CMX16GX3M2A1600C11 XMS 16GB 1600MHz

Motherboard - M4A785TDM_EVO

The board he has does not post when the new RAM has been installed, I thought it may have been down to it being a old motherboard however the specs are similar between the ram, just that the new stuff is 16GB worth.

Any guidance?

Seems that board only supports 16GB total ram over 4 slots, so its possible it doesn't support 8GB sticks. Does the board POST with only one stick in the board? It may be faulty, or incompatible either way I would try exchanging it for 4 x 4GB sticks instead.

as above looks as if you might need to get 4gb sticks
