Will i have to reinstal vista 64 when changing ram from 2-4gb (2x2gb) ? only asking as my family member is getting 4 gigs of ram next week and wants me to install it, would i have to reinstall his version of vista 64 or can i just reset the cmos ?

You shouldn't have to do anything. Just install the ram and switch on.
You should check in the bios to make sure it's running at the correct speed.

Normally a reinstall is only required on a motherboard change (although sometimes ive managed to get away without doing a full reinstall), and obviously if you replace the hard drive with the OS on it. If you change the memory, cpu, graphics, sound etc a reinstall is not required.

lol at shove it in there

now on a more serious note I have been having problems with my RAM (vista crash thread in general hardware section)

Now if you get problems in vista which are similar to mine don't forget to change the RAM timings/voltage in your BIOS.

Enjoy the RAM SHOW :)
