I can't seme to get my RAM to run at its rated speed on my new machine.
I have a striker II extreme and im using 4x 2gb Corsair DDR3 1600 Cas 9.9.9.24 @ 1.8v

I can run it at 1333 or lower but if i try to run it at 1600, manually setting it so its all at those settings, it will BSOD normally before windows.

I have set it up to 1.9v and the northbridge to 1.5 and 1.6, as well as setting TRFC to 110 and it will get into windows but generally one or more startup aps will fail and or it'll BSOD with a memory issue (or random DDL).

I have tried running it with just two sticks, and then jsut a single stick of the other pair.

I am running the 901 BIOS. Does anyone know of a setting i am missing? It is getting very hot to the touch (i can hold it but its pretty uncomfortable). Is there a program that can check the temps of the RAM, if so what temps should it be at?

If there aren't any settings I'm missing what are the chances that it could be overheating? I wont be able to test with better airflow over it until i build into my new case in a few weeks.

Do you have a desk fan you could leave blowing onto it with the side of the case off? The bigger the better.

I would also try booting it with a Live CD to see how it reacts. With Ubuntu for example, if you know enough about Linux you could install benchmarking packages into RAM and stress it without touching the hard drive.

i have only booted into linux a couple of times, no idea how to use it :(.

I unfortunatley dont ahve a desk fan (lost it when i moved) but my case has now been confirmed for next week, which will mean rebuilding my machine with dual loops and a lot more fans in the case, as well as tidying all the cables. I have just ordered the corsair RAM fan though, for the sake of it. Will see how it goes.
