Ram issues - MoBo or Ram ?

I'm having instability issues on an Asus P5K motherboard with two 4 GB (2x2GB) kits of Corsair ram.

The Ram will not pass memtest (although it has run fine for the last 15 months) I have tried the following:

Underclock it at 800MHz and 600Mhz it is 1066MHz rated.
Upping the voltage to it
Running it in single and dual channel modes
Running just one stick at a time

Now the problem is that Ram is just so pricy at the moment that I don't want to just buy some more and find it is the MoBo at fault.

The only PC I could test the ram in is my brothers and his takes DDR3 so I can't use that one !

I would rather buy a new MoBo/CPU/Ram than spend £80 on ram and find that it is the MoBo at fault and I know have 8GB of perfectly good ram !

Any ideas ?

If memtest is showing the ram is failing then you can be pretty sure it is the ram. If you are the original owner of the ram then you will still have a shot of a RMA. Corsair is for life (edit I think it is).

If borrowed a couple of 2GB sticks of known good stuff from a friend of my brothers so I will try that over the weekend. If it passes then I will try my ram in his PC and if it fails there I will RMA the ram and see if Corsair will swap it.

Thanks for your help.

Mates RAM was fine. I have tested my four modules all in isolation, one stick at a time:

Module 1: Pass - 12 hours memtest 0 errors
Module 2: 20 errors after 15 minutes
Module 3: Won't even post
Module 4: 40 errors after 15 minutes

Big thanks to 1Day who reminded me about the Corsair lifetime warranty. I've submitted an RMA (the daft system will only let you do 1 pair at a time). So hopefully I can run on 2GB until I get replacements for modules 3&4 and then submit modules 1&2 for a separate RMA.

Many thanks all for your help.

No stress buddy - this whole forum is about helping each other out when we can.

Good luck with your RMA mate and post back how it goes yeah.
