Hi all... I have finally took the plunge and decided to start my first ever build so i'm a complete noob and starting to learn things as i go. I recently bought a Gigabyte Z490m gaming x motherboard and then went ahead and bought 2x8 DDR4 not knowing anything about MHz. According to my manual my motherboard supports DDR4 3200/2933/2666/2400/2133 and the RAM i purchased are 3000 MHz. My questions are... Are these totally useless in my motherboard.. Can they still be used and downscale or will they damage my motherboard if installed. Obviously i only noticed my mistake once i had started reading the manual. The CPU is definitely compatible as i did check certain things before buying (Intel i5 10400). Apologies in advance if this has been posted in the wrong place... I have literally joined today and still getting familiar with the site... Many thanks

That is motherboard manufacturers error for not listing 3000Mhz RAM support :)
You won't have any issues, just set XMP profile up in BIOS for RAM and you should be good to go
