Ram/Mother board help

Mother board - RC410-M (Asterope)

it states that the max amount of ram i can put on is 2gb, however i was told that it would take 3gb with windows xp.

so i had 1gb, and thought i would add an extra 2gb.

It now only see's the 2gb chip, any idea if i can get it to see the other 1gb chip?

If the motherboard can only take up to a maximum of 2gb of ram then that's why it's showing only 2gb, even if you could see it, it wouldn't be making use of it I don't think.

In reference to the windows XP and 3gb of ram, that's the maximum amount of memory that that operating system can make use of as far as I know. (I'm not sure if that's only true on the 32bit version though, I think it is).
