Just a little question regarding memory overclocking. Have just got my wee brain around cpu i7 overclocking and have it to 4ghz quite nicely, but have to drop my ram down to 1200mhz ish to work (on a x6 multiplier). If i put it on a x8 multiplier it jumps to 1600mhz which is the speed the ram can oppperate at apparently, but then the system fails to boot at all, and needs a 'clear cmos' to get the thing going again.

Any ideas? using a UD4 gigabyte, memery voltage set on stock at 1.5v, maybe thats the problem? As i said, complete noob to memory overclocking and timings

Run cpu and memory at stock, with the memory voltage at 1.64v and running @ 1600mhz and see if you can boot and run windows, if you can re-do your overclock and see if that works well.

You try keeping your overclock and upping the ram volatge but I thought the above might save you from resetting the BIOS and rule out a overclock problem.

If it still fails run mem-test on each stick, I had two lots of OCZ ram which was faulty, running the Patriot now.
