only have one question, how the hell do i do it :D
i have never had any luck overclocking ram in any way, i have owned ram that's been legendary with overclocking and had no luck myself so clearly i am going something wrong ;)

Today i picked up 2 x DDR4 2400mhz Crucial 16gb sticks of ram. this stuff is well known to hit 3000Mhz+ and with tighter times then out of the box speed. i would be happy if i could one speed bump to 2666Mhz but 3000mhz would be super.

where do i start.

CPU i3 6100 @ 4.4Ghz
Mobo z170i Pro gaming.

Set the XMP profile and the add more voltage and frequency from there as it will be a stable starting point. Give it a quick google and there is some good guides to follow which will get you some good results

haha it was just that easy.
set XMP 2400Mhx 17 17 17 39.

bumped voltage to 1.3v and started to up speed. now sitting at 3200mhz 17 17 17 39

its never been that easy i have always had no boots over changing anything. is all DDR4 like this?

Yep quite a lot is like this. My build had DDR3 and never had to sex XMP profiles but my dads build had DDR4 and I had to set XMP profiles to get it fully working without a OC.

They deffiently seem to need using with DDR4. Glad you got it working!
