RAM prices

I hope that in this years christmas the prices will go down, as they did last year.

It is being implemented into servers with Haswell first probably a while before we see it for high performance PC.

I thought ddr4 was going to debut in haswell-e systems, then trickle down to lower cost.

Unlikely, having had meetings with Samsung, Micron and Kingston the trend is a slow upwards movement for rest of year.

Reason is factories are producing less DDR3 to push more production towards towards NAND, SSD due too tablets rocketing growth and of course DDR4. Look at DDR2 prices. So I'd suspect come Christmas prices could be a further 20-30% higher.

well that is promising for SSD prices

and its nice to see everyone on the ddr4 bandwagon for its eventual release

Same. I'm about to pick up some corsair dominator platinums but the feeling of knowing they'll be outdated in a few months or a year is sickly. Oh well, I can't handle 4GB's anymore.

You made me realise I have this very 8Gb kit (Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey 8GB(2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600Mhz Dual Channel Kit KHX1600C9D3X2K28GX, Ocuk's very full description LOL.) which I bought on 27th September 2011 for £39.98 and its been lying in my computer drawer since, completely forgot about it, bought it because I thought I would need another 8Gb sooner rather than later, how wrong was I, still don't need any more than 8Gb.

I paid about £67 for 16gb of Samsung green memory two or 3 months ago, it's now £174!

Is it worth picking up a set of 16gbs of corsair dominator platinums for about £160? Or should I wait and hope prices drop?

I really need to price to drop soon. I want 16gb but can't justify £100+ when I know it was closer to £50 mere months ago.
