I dont really know how to explain it. But i just upgraded from 256MB Ram to duel 512MB Ram, and my computer seems to mess up.

I often get a "Send Error Report" when opening a Internet browser (Like firefox), i also get some DLL error when trying to open Add/Remove Programs. Also MSN Seems to stop working aswell.

The main problem is my computer just restarts at random times. When im in the middle of something it just shuts itself down.

Everything seems to work fine if i put my 256MB ram back in on its own, but it really sucks, so i was wondering if there is anything i can do that might fix the problem i have (I hope ive explained the problem well enough, I dont know much about computers so please bare with me)

My 256MB ram is SDRAM PC133 164 pin. (Not sure what make)
My Duel x 512 MB Is Samsung SDRAM PC133 and 164 pin.

If you need to know my motherboard etc, im sure i can find that out for you.

Thanks in advance.

Just added some extra info.

The error message is

Error Message: STOP 0x000000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER (Q293078)

SYMPTOMS
You may receive one of the following Stop error messages:
STOP 0x000000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER
STOP: 0x100000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER_M

CAUSE
This issue may occur if the display driver is caught in an infinite loop while it waits for the video hardware to become idle. This issue typically indicates a problem with the video hardware or that the display driver cannot program the hardware correctly.
RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, obtain and install the most current driver for your video adapter, or replace your video card.
WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Display.
2. On the Settings tab, click Advanced, and then click the Troubleshoot tab.
3. Move the Hardware Acceleration slider to None, and then click to clear the Enable Write Combining check box.
4. Click OK, and then click OK.

Note This procedure prevents the display driver from programming the hardware incorrectly, but you may lose some display functionality and performance. Although you can increase the hardware acceleration settings higher than None to regain functionality and performance, these settings increase the chance that the issue will occur again. For maximum stability, leave hardware acceleration off.

Thats what i got advised to do on the Microsoft site, but it didnt work :\.

Anyone else got ideas?

Hi!

Welcome to the forums! :)

It is possible that your new memory is faulty. It won't be PC133 memory if it's running in dual channel mode though :)

If you go back to your original 256MB ram do your problems stop? I'd also try downloading a program called memtest and letting it run for a few hours to see if it finds any errors

Thanks for the welcome :), Yes, if i do change back to my 256MB ram my problems do stop, so its most likely the ram is faulty?

Edit: Ive downloaded Memtest, ill just let it run for awhile n see what it says.
