Hey, i´m pretty new to this, so i´m just gonna ask straight away...

I just bought An Asus Rampage Extreme and Corsair CMT6GX3M3A1866C9

But they only run at 1066Mhz with 8-8-8-20 timings in bios, could someone explain to me the easiest way to atleast get them up to 1600Mhz ?
Just wanna be sure i don´t blow anything up fiddling in the bios :p

You could simply enable the XMP profile. Most of the time that will work.

If it is not possible with the CPU you are using to enable the XMP profile then your board will simply reset. Not biggie.

If you have a problem just post here and we can try and work it out. I do have the X48 socket 775 board in the cupboard some place and can pull it out if needed.

Hmm... It seems i forgot to type III :p
I have An Asus Rampage III Extreme

I just tried to enable XMP it didnt work, says i failed to overclock, and then i changed everything to default again, I also got An Intel i7 950 running at stock speed.

Sorry not sure how I missed your reply.

We have been having a bit of fun with the Rampage Extreme III and the 950 over here by the way.

The first thing you will need to do is tell me what your cooling is. Basically you can do some pretty insane things with CPU's if you keep them cool.

But if all you want to do is increase your ram speed then it is easy enough.

Go into the bios and on the first screen (the one that opens) you will be given a option to change your ram frequency. Currently it will be on auto. Just select that and I am pretty sure one of the options will be close to 1600MHz.

And that is pretty much that. :D

The area I marked with the black oval thing - just select the frequency you want there. 1600 will not stress your system too much I do not think.

Thanks a lot for the replies, currently i´m just using the stock cooler, but i ordered the Noctua D14, and i should have it in like 2 weeks, yes i know its a long time, but thats the way it is when you live in the Faroe Islands :)

Anyway can i just switch the frequency to 1600mhz and set the voltage to 1.65 and i should work ?

Yeah that should work just fine - you can check what the voltages should be for the frequency by looking at the SPD. CPU-z has that information.

Oki, i just updated the Bios to 1005 and made those changes to Ram, seems like they run at bit faster, but PC Probe II is running completely bezerk, not sure if its the bios update or that i made the changes with Ram, anyway here are all the errors its reporting:
