RAM Query - BSODs Windows 10

So I've recently upgraded my PC with new Motherboard (ASUS ROG Strix B450i with latest bios), CPU (Ryzen 5 3600) and Graphics Card (AMD RX590).

I recently had the graphics card in my "old" PC and although I had some teething problems with stability, I got it working nicely eventually. However, I now run into frequent BSODs in the new system, which typically follow on from a gaming session - it never crashes during a game.

I've done a fresh install of Windows (twice).

The stop code is MEMORY_MANAGEMENT. Now, before I started getting this stop code I was getting others, which I can't recall off the top of my head.

I'd thought that issue was initially my graphics card but considering a) I had this graphics card running stable on my old system, and b) I can run games for hours without issue, I don't believe it's the culprit.

I'm starting to wonder if it is RAM relate or even something else.

I do have VirtualBox installed, but other than that it's just a handful of games.

I can run prime95 for a few hours without crashes, and other burn in tests too. Unigine Heaven never crashes. I also ran the built in Windows MemTest and it doesn't report any problems... I guess memtest86 is next.

Interestingly, I noticed in CPU Z that my two (apparently identical) RAM sticks are showing different timings - see attached - what could this mean?

I know that my RAM isn't the fastest, but I don't see the need to upgrade it when I can play the games I want at max settings, unless of course it is a major factor in these BSOD issues.

Those sticks are not identical, did you buy them as a kit or separately?

One is micron single rank the other is Hynix dual rank.

They were bought as a kit.

I know that the dram manufacturer can vary, but the part numbers are the same. I would have expected the dram manufacturer to be the same when buying as a kit tbh...

I've had these two sticks for about two years I think.

It might explain why your having crashes yet no errors showing up in memtest as the ram is fine but more of a compatibility issue running it together.

Tbh you should really get some better ram anyway for ryzen as it really likes ram over 3000 with 3600 being the sweet spot for ryzen 3rd gen.

Could it just be that cpuz is reading them wrong? Try thaiphoon burner. See what that says.

Ok, looks like there are definitely some differences between the two modules. I guess the sensible thing to do is to remove one and see if the crashes persist.

Looks like one of the sticks is slower than advertised?

Yeah, I didn't really think about this beforehand but I've been reading that a lot lately.

Leave the b-die stick in there. Give it a test. I cant believe they were sold as a kit.

XMP ratings for both sticks are same.
But having very different sticks as kit could certainly cause problems.
Really amazed that they would just throw in such into same kit.
Guess Corsair's quality must have been slipping...

2400MHz is certainly such bad speed for Ryzen that would replace them anyway, if you care about gaming performance.

With those timings it could be B-die which just exceeds minimums.
Buildzoid just did long video taking apart memory choises available.
