Asus P6T Deluxe v1 with an ii7 920 and 2 OCZ3RPR1866C9LV6GK kits

I had a stick go out from one of the 3x2GB kits and am now sorting it out with OCZ, however, they just said they don't make that ram any more and have offered a refund.

My question, though, is, can I run another 2x3 type ram in the seconary three slots - and if so, what, -- or whether I will now need to replace ALL the ram (the matched 12gb was meant to operate in tri-channel mode)

I assume matching ram is essential for stability and also for overclocking, isn't it?

Thanks

As long as the RAM within each channel is matched you shouldnt have any trouble

This example would work fine

Channel A - Slots 1-3-5 - OCZ 1866 6gb (3x2GB)
Channel B - Slots 2-4-6 - Corsair 1866 6gb (3x2gb)

Try to match the RAM timings closely but a little bit of difference will not matter.
