ram query

hi,

ive just recieved Corsair Vengeance 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C8 1600MHz triple chanel ram.

ive also just bought a new i7 2600 processor and GIGABYTE GA-Z68AP-D3 MOBO which is a dual chanel ram MB.

i havent ran into any issues but am wondering if i will suffer any lack of performance from the ram due to it being triple chanel?

Generally You should be ok, the board might run in single channel rather dual channel. But not sure on how much of pformance hit.

How come you bought triple channel memory.

i just assumed that triple channel ram would be better than dual and my new MB would have triple channel slots.

if you guys were in my shoes would you return it for dual channel ram?

its gaming performance im after.

It's not the RAM which determines dual or triple channel it's the memory controller on the processor and how you fit the RAM on the motherboard.

By filling 3 memory slots you may be running all the RAM in single channel giving worse performance.

I would return it and get an 8GB (2x4GB) kit.

For dual channel operation you need to fit the 2 sticks in slots of the same colour so both in the blue slots or both in the white slots.
