RAM question in relation to old Mobo

I have a now obsolete mobo being an IP35 pro. I really don't want to upgrade it as I like the easy overclocking on it. I am looking to upgrade my RAM and I know the mobo will take up to 8gb. I currently have 4gb of PC8500 ram but it is expensive to upgrade. I saw some newer DDR3 ram in OCUK today and I was wondering if anyone knows if it would work with my IP35pro?

Any advice would be appreciated :)

nkata is right, not only is it incompatible but the key or notch in the memory is in a different place to prevent users from mistakenly using dd3 in a ddr2 slot.

Unfortunately not, both mechanically and electronically.

As DDR2 gets older and older it will for some time at least get more expensive as few factories will continue to produce it. With lower supply and dying yet substantial demand prices will hike.
