Is a 4gb upgrade worth it for an alu macbook ?

I use it for day to day stuff + photos and will be using it for coding soon. As haven't noticed any kind of slowdown so far I am leaning towards no.

On similar lines, what constitutes a breach of warranty with regards to the deconstruction of a macbook given that the entirety of the components sans the keyboard are exposed when you take the back cover off to replace the ram ?

If you check Activity Monitor under the System Memory tab, it provides information on your usage to confirm whether you need the additional memory.

Hard drive and memory are the only user replaceable components on the MacBook that do not invalidate the warranty, anything else is most likely to invalidate it.
