hey i have an p6-58x asus mobo, with overclocked cpu running at 4ghz i have installed 8gb of dual channel ram and its nb frequency is 3054mhz i was wondering is that good, does that mean the RAM is running at its max??

thanks for help

Download CPU-Z this will show your memory frequency.

I suspect the 3054 will be your QPI speed.

I am not 100% sure on that board, but with only 2 memory modules the board may default to single channel mode, CPU-Z again should confirm either way hopefully.

But adding another ram module, I personally would keep it the same size as the others and install this on the third channel on the board.

ahhh yes i see now, i had3x2gb corsair sticks so its triple channel, and i bought 2x4gb kingston hyperx blu sticks to make sure it was compatible before boosting it up to 16gb which was coming up as dual channel. i thought that was the spec of the RAM not just the way it was configured in the mobo.

thanks again for the insight. :D
