I built my new PC last month after my motherboard failed.

at the time I could only fit 2 x 4GB sticks in giving me 8GB. My plan was to change it to 16GB at the end if June.

question is, it better to get 2 x 8GB or shall I just get another 8GB of my current ram giving me 4 x 4GB sticks

this is my current ram

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £49.99 (includes shipping: £0.00)

Currently have not overclocked anything as wanted to make sure all is stable.

The rest of my PC is a gigabyte Gaming X Z390 mobo with a I7 9700K

Thanks!

At that cheap price, if you have no intentions of adding any more ram in the future, then id just get another 2 sticks of the same kit you already have and run 4 x 4gb sticks.

I did it with some G.Skill trident Z RGB stuff I had, Hynix based, I purchased Thaiphoon burner at the same time, read the spd's off all of the sticks to make sure they carried the same chips then flashed them all with the same SPD, instantly you have a quad channel matched kit.

Hello Jamin28072,

thanks for taking the time to reply, as you say for that price you cant really go wrong.

Be worth paying a little more going for this Vulcan T-Force 16GB (2x8GB) £89.99 works out better in Value & getting 16gb a big boost in Proformance
what I am running & also Samsung B-die ICs, well mine is from the what I got from OCUK

having 2x 8gb is better than 4x - 4gb sticks also cuts errors in only having 2 sticks & allows for higher upgrades

Thaiphoon burner can be Dl for free to read the info of the memory

Memory is better bought in sets, just because it's 2 "same" 2x4 GB kits, doesn't mean they will play well together in 4x4 config, might loose some frequencies and will have to downclock. But then again, it might run just fine.
