Ram questions

Hi all,

Would anyone be able to tell me if putting x2 4GB and x2 2GB sticks of RAM to total 12GB is more beneficial for performance than just have the x2 4GB for 8GB total?

Tech info on the RAM:

x2 4GB DDR3 Kingston Hyper-x 1600

Older RAM:

x2 2GB DDR3 Kingston Hyper-x (I think 1600)

It all depends on what you are using your pc for e.g gaming 8gb is enough, video encoding the more ram the better.
