hi guys soon ill be purchasing the asus formula thunder fx board i was wondering if you guys could recommend some excellent ram for it.

what's your budget, how much ram do you want?
tbh, i'd say get the cheapest one from a reputable company
the difference in cas latencies wont make a slightest bit of difference in real world usage

you're getting the maximus formula right? seen some of your other posts.
if you're willing to spend that much i'd say get 16gb ram
high profile ram sticks (aka big, tall ones like the one in your post) are not usually advised as it will interfere with most heatsinks. better to get low profile ram. and they're cheaper too cuz you're not paying extra for the extra fancy heatsinks (which actually does nothing)
the timings dont make any real world difference, as in, you wont feel any slower in normal usage outside of benchmarking

i'd recommend these:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Corsair Vengeance Low Profile 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C10 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CML16GX3M2A1600C10) £99.95
Total : £108.65 (includes shipping : £7.25).

im going to water cooling the rig so i should not have any problems with ram clearances and i was thinking of water cooling the ram too i know i cant do that on the corsair platinum any thing else out there.

forgot to mention im making custom rog themed rig so white or red rams

ps. forgot what xmp is?

rams are one of the last thing to get warm. there's no need for watercooling on ram.
anyway isnt rog red and black, not red and white? lol

you see i have the cosmos 2 all in black and i like the color white a lot so im going to paint he case red and white outside and inside all white with the bottom chamber in red.

the mobo should stand out more red and black

its going to have rog logo cutouts and illuminated acrylic midplate and few modds here and there for cut text in the plstic with extruded text acrylic behind the cuts.

i wanted to water cool everything because i have the space to do so with dual loop i just love the way it looks if done properly.

Mate with ASUS Formula there is only one way to go and thats GSKILL Trident X 2400mhz modules.

All the ASUS bios engineers and testers use GSKILL and they are very compatible and over clockable on the Gene, Formuala and Extreme.

My recommendation goes Trident X every time I can get 3165mhz out of mine!!!

Bear in mind though whatever you get you are limited with IMC on the chip.

I have the 4gb sticks but the choice is yoiurs really. 2 x 4gb 2666mhz version and 2 x 4gb 2400mhz version (Which I won in the GSKILL cup overclocking comp). The choice is yours really.

No you cant water cool them but water cooling RAM is pointless anyway. Its either AIR or -50 for RAM. I run 1.9v on my Trident X 2666mhz Kit on AIR for benching without Heat Problems.
