Hiya Gang

I am just about to purchase an intel Quad core Q6600 2.4 Processor, and an Abit IP35 Pro motherboard.

i'll be overclocking the processor to 3Ghz.

I'm looking for 2ghz of Ram.
What is my best option?

Looking to spend under £150 really. But if theres a massive difference in the speed, I could stretch a bit more!

Cheers guys

Low memory prices, over two Dollars to the Pound, OcUK buying and selling them in huge quantities.

Right. I'm confused as hell here.

Some ram has values like CAS 4-4-4-12.
Some have CAS 4-4-4-15

Some have 1.9V-2.3V. Some have 2V

I'm confused what all this means!!!

I'm probably only going to get 2GB to start off with, and top up with another 2GB to fill up the slots on my Abit board.
I'm guessing its the PC2-6400 Ram i need yes?

So whats the difference between the cheap £40 Geil sticks, and the more expensive £93 quid G.Skill stuff?

The G.Skill HZ is very overpriced since it uses the same chips as the Crucial Ballistix PC6400. The chips they use need 2.2v to run at their advertised speeds, whereas the likes of the Geil and OCZ Platinum use chips that need 2.1v.

The 2.2v chips will overclock a lot further than the Geil, but you won't really need the Geil to be overclocked.
