My ram is showing up as 2133 mhz when it is actually 3733mhz ... now do I just use the ram info to alter the bios settings to get it to run at the rated speed? Never done this before:
Ram: 16GB(2x8gb) Team Group dual channel DDR4 3733 (18-20-20-39) at 1.35v

look in the bios for xmp, then enable it/select profile that gives you rated ram speed

it will set correct speed/timings/voltage for you

nope no go, xmp puts in all the correct values apart from the first. Instead of 3733mhz it puts in 3731mhz .. the timings are correct and so is the voltage. Cannot boot into bios after re-start. Have to reset to bios safe mode and changed back to boot. Error comes up as "55" - no memory detected.

could it be anything to do with the two sticks of ram in slots 2 and 4 as the manual suggests? I've always used slots 1 and 3 as instructed prior to this ??

What is your system spec. It sounds to me like you cpu don't like the speeds or you cpu is over clocked be for you put new ram in? Do a full bios reset then set xpm.

1 and 3 will work just the same,its usually 2 and 4

latest bios? you might need more memory controller voltage no idea what it is labelled as on x99/z97 and onwards though

already done reset. All a new build. Specs are:

Case: Phanteks Enthoo Primo
mobo: Asus Maximus viii Extreme
cpu: Core i7 6700k
Cooler: Corsair H110i GTX
Ram: 16GB(2x8gb) Team Group DDR4 3733 (18-20-20-39)
SSD: Samsung 850 Pro 1TB
GPU Asus GTX980 Ti Matrix
PSU: Corsair 1200W
Optical: Pioneer BDRW
Nothing is overclocked. Windows 10 Pro is up and running and all software and drivers installed.

ok updated to latest. Checked ram and it's still reading low timings and speed. I have ASUS memtweak running, is it worth altering the settings there on the desktop or go back into bios?

it depends on the cpu/memory controller

it wont match the timings exactly unless you tune the ram/adding more memory controller voltage

its not dram voltage its another one for the memory controller

system agent, im not sure on that platform though, you might need two or three clicks more than what auto uses, maybe someone who knows more can help with that
