Ram settings on new build?

Just set up my new rig. Disabled EIST and C1E/C3/C6 but there's one more thing I need to change in BIOS: ram timings. They were by default set at 11-11-11-28-1T. They were supposed to run at 9-9-9-24/1600MHz.

So I'm wondering what I should set manually and what to leave auto? I'll change the latency timings as above, but should I also set memory frequency to 1600MHz manually (CPUZ shows it fluctuating in the low 800s at the moment, which means an effective frequency of around 1600, but I don't like the fact that it seems to be fluctuating slightly) and set voltage to 1.5v manually also?

I think the answer's yes but I don't want to destroy a third motherboard in as many weeks :S

The RAM is already running at 1600MHz so you shouldn't need to change anything in that respect.

If the memory speed is fluctuating slighly then I would think it's because the Base Clock is fluctuating slightly.

Does the CPU speed also change when the RAM does?

Yeah, it's weird. I just disabled EIST and it shot up from 1.6Ghz idle to 3.6Ghz idle, even though I think it's supposed to be running at 3.3Ghz.

This is on an Asus Gene-Z with a 2500k and 8Gb G.Skill RipjawsX.
