Hi, I have installed 2gb (2x1gb) OCZ Gold pc6400, on the sticks it has 4-5-5-15 yet cpu-z shows 5-5-5-15. I have only built my computer a few days ago and have had a few random reboots, I put it down to everything settling in. Would the difference in the settings cause this? (Microsofts error reporting says the fault is with the ram) Could this be the problem? Also cpu-z reports ithe voltage at 1.8 volts is this right?

sorry to ask so many questions.

thanks

Go into your BIOS,

take the settings off auto, set them to the timings and voltage that is specified on your ram

if you think your ram might be faulty, run memtest

Currently, you're running the RAM at default/automatic voltages and timings.

It's likely that the default voltage the motherboard sets is too low, and subsequently is the likely cause of your crashes - not enough juice being supplied to the RAM basically.

5-5-5-5 is typical motherboard "auto" settings, ensure that once you've set the voltage correctly, change the the timings to 4-5-5-5 to get the improved performance the RAM is capable of.

thanks for quick replys, I have changed the settings to 4-5-5-15 and 1.95volts. What should I look at in cpu-z, memory or spd tabs? (memory shows 4-5-5-15, spd shows 5-5-5-15 1.8volts)

just had a random reboot.

thanks
