Just wondering how many RAM sinks I need for this... Is it 16? Or do I need any for the VRMs? I'm planning on using my Maze5 on it so its not a full cover block.

Cheers,
Andy

It is 8 sinks I think, two to the "left" of the GPU (ie towards the backplates), three above the GPU, and three to the "right" (towards the power sockets).

There are also another 8 RAM chips on the back of the PCB which is the first time I've seen that happen.

So that's 16 in total, not sure about the VRMs but you might as well get one of those long ramsinks too for that. I saw one for the first time the other day in that high street shop you can find by looking lin any map.

Wondering if my VF-900 would be able to cool it sufficiently, I'm assuming I'd have to file down edges of it to fit but I'd be willing to do that :)

Well I've ordered 8 more anyway so I've got 16.. Sure I can shoehorn something onto the VRM... Roll on tomorrow! :)

Swiftech do Mosfet sinks, think there designed for the 8800s but they can fit mobo mosfets too, no reason why they wouldn't fit a 2900XT

Wonder why nvidia and ati always seem to leave stuf running roasting hot rather than adding some additional cooling to it? You put heatsinks on the vrm to help cool them as they do get boiling hot but if anything was ever to go wrong with the card an rma would be out of the question because of them

Saves them money I suppose, fitting mosfet cooling would cost them extra to make the card, thats what i think anyway ;)
