Hey there...

I've been um-ing and ar-ing about what ram to put in my new gaming build...
so far in my basket I have i7 2600k (just for the hell of it & hoping to get about 4.6ghz out of it), extreme 7 g3, 580 sli (black with blue fans), antec 920 cooler, 256gb m4 ssd etc etc... which i am very happy with :)

Now... I'm looking at the Ram selection... budget of around £120 (exc vat) absolute max. Not overly fussed whether 8gb or 16gb...

I quite like RipjawX 8GB C7 £82 and i also quite like Kingston Hyperx Genesis 8gb C9 £40...

I do prefer the black design of the Ripjaws, however, the HyperX match the mobo better lol.

Would I notice a difference between the two? Have i overlooked any? What would you guys go for?
I'd like it to be colour coded with the mobo and look pretty slick :)...

Thanks

Adam

P.S after writing this out i think i will go with the Ripjaws... any improvements / suggestions?

All the Sandybridge RAM guides say to just get 1600MHz RAM at modest 9-9-9- etc timings.

You are getting a closed loop water cooler so the height of the RAM heatspreaders isnt any concern.

Get the cheapest 8GB kit 1600MHz/CL9 or less timings you see, maybe getting a colour to match the motherboard if your really picky:)

HyperX is half the price and you'll see no gain from getting the Ripjaws. If the looks of the G.Skill are worth double the price get that, otherwise the Kingston makes much more sense. You could even get 16GB for the same price :)
