Alright folks,

Basically upgraded my current PC with a new processor, RAM and motherboard. I've gone for -

4790K
Asus Maximus VII Ranger
Corsair Pro Vengeance 2400mhz

The RAM is currently running at 1333mhz and when I set it to 2400mhz the PC refuses to boot. Any ideas?

Also, my CPU fan no longer spins (Corsair H100i), it's definitely plugged into the correct pins but just doesn't spin at all

Many thanks

2 sticks and they are probably around 6 inches long?

Jokes mate, it's 2 x 4GB :)

Remind me to say capacity next time... :D

I've sorted the CPU fan now. It's just the RAM.

Great.

(You really don't want to know why the CPU fans weren't working!)

That bad, eh? ;)

I had a spot of trouble with a VII Ranger and memory BSOD's with a recent build. Was 4 x 4GB but I reckon there might be a minor issue with the VII Ranger's not supplying enough constant juice to the memory controller on the CPU.

See the following post and take the advice there (1.15V on SAV, Analog I/O and Digital I/O voltages):

Also, did you set XMP? If not, try that first.

Yeah tried the XMP mate and same result, BSOD after about 20 mins or so. I'll have a play around with the voltages etc. Really appreciate you help thank you :)

You're welcome.

Forgot to mention that BIOS updates tend to have memory control improvements, so you should flash to latest if you haven't done so already, and then tinker (only if necessary) with those voltages.

Ok so I've dropped to RAM voltage down from 1.65v to 1.6v and all is stable now touch wood. No BSOD and my PC's been on all day :)
