Hi
Just a quick question about my memory .
I have a Intel Core i7 920 D0 Stepping (SLBEJ) 4.00GHz / Gigabyte EX58-UD5 Intel X58 Motherboard running 6gb of Kingston Hyper X 1600mhz ddr3 ram (KHX12800D3K3/6GX)
What I wanted to know is ...when I first boot up it says memory frequency is 1066mhz .....is this right for my system or should it be set differently in bios to get the best out of the ram ?

Any help most appreciated as don't really know much about setting ram or overclocking

ow ...also in bios ram is on auto and set to 8,8,8,20 latency ...yet on ram website it says should be 9,9,9,27 .

its probably set to 1066mhz(default) speed, but its rated at 1600mhz 9.9.9.27?

you can either set or enable x.m.p profile and it will set it up for you or set it manually in spd system memory multiplier, set it so it reads 1600mhz,might be 8x or 10x,then set expert for the timings and set each channel a.b.c to 9-9-9-27-1t timings and that it

It sounds like it's running slow, but you'd have to look in bios to be sure. With that big overclock setting XMP probably won't work, depending what you've set the base clock to. Knocking the memory divider up a notch or two should sort it.
