RAM speed higher is it actually better?

Hi,
I was wondering if higher ram speed is actually better when its high. For example the i7 920 D0 if i want to overclock it to 4.0GHz then would the 2000MHz ram run at 2000MHz or will it have to run at a lower speed?

why would you have to run it at a lower speed.?

get as fast ram as you can afford

but with 2000Mhz i theres no way thats going to hold back the cpu oc.

Timings also play quite an important role. So make sure that you get high speeds and low timings

Hmm, i spoke to someone who has the 2000MHz RAM *Corsair Dominator GT 7-8-7-20* he said that he couldn't actually run it at its full speed when he overclocked his i7 920 D0 to 4.3 on the Classified Motherboard. Instead he suggested the 1600Mhz from Corsair, which is half the price.

So what if i had a choice should i go for the Dominator GT or something high *2000MHz? I wouldn't want to buy expensive RAM and all it does is perform about the same speed as RAM 2-3 times cheaper than it.

Do what i did,

Run the memory at 1600 with 7.7.7.22 timeings ;P
Uber fast i garantee, cause i use it lol
